I managed to cut the inner rear valance out in one piece.
After I'd done that I cleaned up 'Shorty's' bottom. Oh err!
This was cut out making sure I'd got the worst of the rust.
With the edge bent over to fit the arch the metal was held in place.
You have a few pictures of this because this time it's not to embarassing to show.
After a visit from Spot I braced the back end as he suggested. The round metal bar has since been removed.
I then made a template from wood for the rear end. This was to make sure I cut in the same place on both cars.
This was then marked on both cars. The distances should be the same.
Without this tool made by Tony it wouldn't look as good as it does.
I cleaned up the chassis rail section in the sand blast cabinet and it looks okay.
I welded both side for no other reason than welding practice.
The bottom could now be cut to lenght.
I then folded the bottom edge down and the edge for the spare wheel well up. All I need to do now is weld it in place.
Painted it looks a bit like a proper panel!
But ran out oif wire so will finish it tomorrow night. "I am a welding and sheetmetal working God!!!!!!"

I did this by removing all the spot welds. My plan at the moment is to make a new one?
The offside corner which connects to the wheel arch was missing, presumed dead.
I first made a cardboard template up and transferred that to metal.
I then set about welding in my own unique way.
I also did both sides! Don't really know why but I did.
The wooden batten has been screwed through the rear GT badge hole. Clever huh!
With the template done I stapled some card to it at the distance I want to cut.
Half way through the new panel build. It sort of looks right!
My one wasn't quite as well made as this. I'm still going to call it a 'press making thingy'!
Once welded in place it all seems to fit.
To check for size and if the chassis rail section lined up I laid it in place.
It was so much easier with the metal shear.
I sprayed the panel up after a quick tidy up.
I started to spot weld it to the car.
