With the suspension now back off and the car back on a trolley it was time to start welding in the boot floor.
The metal is a bugger to weld, some goes okay another patch will blow through.
A side view which is a bit better. Everything after the rear window was all I kept.
This is all I want now and only really the boot floor but I didn't want to distort things to much.
Here is all thats left of it!
Now onto the chassis rail. The offside didn't connect to the rear so I decided where I want to cut it.
This included making the cut outs for the floor section. I used a cardboard template for this.
I had also braced the chassis rails together with a steel rod.
After a coat of primer I welded it into postion. If this is wrong it's going to be a bugger to correct.

These three pictures show the first section which needs to go in first. The rest of the floor will butt up to this, he says full of confidence.
Not a good picture but this was just after I cut 'shorty' in half again. I feel like Paul Daniels, not a lot!
To make it easier to move about I chopped it into smaller bits. Note a bit of floor missing.
It gives me more room in the garage as well.
I got the rear parcel shelf out in one by removing all the spot welds.
Before I cut I made a box section to fit inside the original leg.
Next I cut the leg off after making exactly where the insert needed to go. Please note I also put ku-rust then Hammerite as far as I could reach.
I then checked and double checked to make sure the insert was in the right place.
I then drilled a hole just above the insert as the lip could trap water. It was drilled at the lowest point on the rail.
