Removing the rear shelf was a worry but all went well. I should've done it sooner as it gave me so much more room to work on the wheel wells.
As the boot floor is also out I now have access to the very corners. The new floor pan would be easier to do as well so I might not put the shelf in until later. A full fire wall will also be added and sound deadening.
You can see what I'm up against but I hope new metal will help.
Inside the rear pillar it was only surface rust, unlike the other side which had rusted right through.
I struggled to work on the wells, cramped up in the boot, now I can stand up. The shelf had to be removed anyway at some stage as it was rusted through. I have do have another to go in.
I cut out as much as I dared which gave me access to the shock box section and pillar section. These were treated with rust remover.
Inside the pillar strengening section it was rust free apart from the bottom. See picture below.
Inside the bottom section you can see the rust. The holes at the bottom where also blocked.
My welding is getting much better, it just takes me ages.
