The crossmember in place and at the correct hight.
The Landrover engine rubbers should take plenty of vibration.
Tony sent some pukka spacers in the post but the centre hole was too small and I didn't have a big enough sharpe drill.
Tony's work of art can still be seen at the moment. I will fill this section after I sort the handbrake.
The original pedalbox hole needed filling.
The offside lower section finished. Well tacked in place.
Below are the pictures I couldn't take while the work was being done. Front valance repair before filler.
The front with new centre angle added.
I managed to get one bolt behind the angle.
A small section of plate was cut to fit.
Then tidied up. No filler.
The gap when secured from bottom.
The finished job, now needs tidying.
From the front with lip. The lip will help secure the new holes in the removable section.
I had to renew the down section, I know this needs tidying.
It sit nicely on the GT crossmember and Rover original making a nice strong triangular brace.
The second spreader plate is finished with champhered edges, just needs paint.
View from the underside.
Two holes have been made to make access easier to the top two gearbox bolts. Note the lower curve in the holes.
This was done to hopefully make it match the one on the other side of the bulkhead.
Once the engine's out I can finish the top and then tidy everything up. There is no filler yet to make it look nice.
Centre of the front end showing the hidden angle bar and captive bolts. (Note no lip).
Front sits nicely on the angle.
The cut end showing the hollow after the plate was welded underneath.
And welded in.
The oposing part. This had tube welded in to surround the hole to stop crushing.
The gap when secured from top.
A plate was added to get rid of the hole completly.
From behind and with the new lip tacked on.
The lip.
