Shakespeare Raceway 2011
One Great Day!

Saturday 2nd April and I'm at Shakespeare Raceway for DHR's first ever run down the quarter mile. We had a good day weather wise and I believe there were only about 30 cars racing. (Plenty of bikes though). All in all DHR did herself proud, recording her best time of 17.6, which is pretty good for a 43 year old 2ltr car. All her times were pretty much the same apart from when I had her in reverse off the line and went backwards, which scared the crap out of the bloke on the start line. She still managed a 20.5 even then. She'd had some quite bad petrol starvation problems in the week leading up to this but she only died on me once and we did an 18.3 then.

Paul was there in his 1159 HA and he did very respectable 20's. Martin had his new V8 HC out to play for the first time and he was over the moon with 14.5. (So would I be). Edd was there in his V6 with only a single carb instead of the usual triples. I don't know what his best was but I think it was in the 14's. And lastly we had Spot with Rova. He did his usual 15's and wasn't very happy as Martin's V8 should have been the same as him, but wasn't.

We spent most of the day there and you could have raced about 20 to 30 times easily. I only raced 6 times and now wish I'd done more. We went from there to Flod's for an evening of beer, curry and laughs.
