Outlaws Santa Pod 2009
Couldn't run, so we walked!

Spot got to me at nine like he said he would, Edd got to me half a hour later which was bloody good going for Edd, but he did have help because he was staying with Mark who got him going. Steve also came with them so we would have four HB's going in convoy up the motorway. Edd in his V6, Spot in his V8, Steve in the pinto and DHR. After much faffing around with tyre pumping, oil buying and getting cash from a hole in the wall we finally arrive at the Pod later than planned. We were supposed to be joined by Martin, Gary and Paul but only Paul showed.

The place was packed with over 500 signed on, so we were told. We didn't race in the end because; a) It was £25 and b) We'd only get one run in, two at best. Our leader, who's tighter than a lycra leotard on John Prescott, said that we would have a look at going to Stratford instead to see if it's less busy. Anyway we had a good wander amongst the cars and chatted to whoever would talk to us.

There was a gent with a lovely little Austin A35 and he'd put a Metro 1300 turbo in it. A nice job and he got a 17 second run which was good going. There was a Citroen convertable which was extremely unusual. The guy had done the convertable conversation himself and it looked a great job. Probably my favorite cars there, apart from DHR, were a pair of Dodge Chargers, both in black. One had some huge great lump in it and did a 9 second run but I preferred the other one because the bonnet was as it should be. There were a few American cars there but it was the Ford boys who were most on show. Mostly Escorts but a few Anglia's were around.

We headed back to mine for a cuppa and a race down the M1. Edd stayed till about seven, just talking Viva and discussing SHW with me while his son Mark watched football on telly.

I had a good time and it could've only been bettered had we run....and DHR beat them all of course!

The A35 had a Metro turbo lump in it and it was well put together. Did a 17 second run which ain't to be sneezed at.

And even more unusual as it was a home made convertable.

I think this Esprit did a 13 second run.
