20th October 2008.....Well I had a good session on the pond over the wGetting there!eekend and managed to get two layers of carpet and a layer of underlay down before putting the pond liner in. Now this website hasn't turned into 'pond heaven', it's just that I'm pretty chuffed with myself and as I'm the only one who sings my praises, I thought I'd show off a bit. Sorry the picture is a bit dark but it's dark now when I get home from work. That's my garage doors in the picture and as you see I need to cross the bridge to get to them. What about making the bridge a draw bridge?

14th October 2008.....I finished digging last night so if anyone wants 80 bags of mud please let me know, it's free to collector. I also attempted to put the What a mess!finishing touch to my model DHR. This turned into a shambles so I will start all over again. Trying to do a stripe free-hand on a model GT is a non-starter, believe me. Also the chrome bits look crap as well.

12th October 2008.....I was feeling a little hung over after a night out to celebrate my birthday and get rid of my depression, but it was Santa Pod day. Spot told me he would turn up at 9:30, then turned up at 10 to 9 just to catch me out. We had a cuppa and he had a look in the garage before we set off. He spent a few minutes telling me what things I'd broken or done wrong and generally took the mick till the tea was drunk, then off we go. Well after I'd been to the loo again. When we got there we saw that we'd probably picked the wrong day as the queue was way past the quarter of a mile point. It turned out that it had been an all weekend thing with a Saturday night special and what with the weather being wonderful as well, everybody and their uncle was there. We pulled up by the loo's as that had to be my first port of call only to find waterMy Personal Machanic! pouring out of DHR. Spot said they wouldn't let me run like that. After she had cooled a bit I set Spot the task of repairing it while I hung around and watched. He managed this but I think he could've done it quicker. Only joking, thank you Spot. I decided then that I wouldn't run today as I didn't want any disasters this time. My task for the day was to film Spot and Gary going down the Pod using Spot's stupid new digital video camera. He gave me a great big list of very complicated instructions and just left me to it. I sat in the stands and waited. Spot came round the corner and I tried to video him. I couldn't see a thing...nothing was working. As I cried out in frustration Edd said, "your looking through the wrong end Dangerous". Well how was I supposed to know, both ends looked the same. I just managed to get him starting off the line and got him all the way down the strip. Oh how I'm going to get the pi** taken out of me for that. Spot managed 2 runs and Gary 3. Most of the cars were modern which just goes to show how old we all have become. (Getting depressed again). A couple of nice Mk1 Escorts, a very quick Mkll, some MG's one with a Rover V8 turbo and nitros and a beautiYellow Firenza ful Mk1 Capri, (might turn out to be a Consul but have a look at the pictures on the sho w page, click here). There was a nice yellow Firenza there with a Rover V8 in it. It had a turbo, fuel injection and water injection I was told. Where do you inject water to? I had water injection on DHR earlier! I didn't get the blokes name but he said it did a 12.7 run which is very good. We had a good day and it was great to see Edd again, pity we don't see more of him. When I got home it was back to the gardening as there was an hours daylight to dig by. Life's never smooth is it?

10th October 2008.....I know I have this date down twice but I've been thinking and yes I know that's a dangerous thing to do. Today is my birthday and I'm wondering where all the time has gone. It wasn't that long ago that I was young and in my prime. Now I not only look old, I really feel it. Just five years ago I built an extension on the back of my house and could climb ladders, lift heavy stuff about and think nothing of it. Now, at 52, I'm digging my garden pond and both shoulders are shot, my left knee is killing me and my arms and legs generally feel worn out. I wake up in the mornings and it genuinely hurts to get out of bed. When does this aging process get to the point when it thinks, 'that's your lot, you've had a good run, now I'll stop you doing things'. Why am I slowing down, my brain says I can still do these thing?

10th October 2008.....Well as I've said before no news on the car front but I thought you'd likeOld Pond to see how much I've done on the pond. The first picture is of the old pond which has had the wall knocked down round the back and I've cleaned up all the bricks and used them on the new wall in the second picture. I like to re-cycle to help the planet. Okay it's because I'm tight. The bridge was changed from it's original design. I had a brick built one with hand rails etc. but Joanne wanted to see through it! Don't ask! I thought she meNew Pondant a glass bridge at first but she just wanted it to look like a pier. So using my expert welding skills I knocked this work of art up. I still need to dig down about another foot in most places then I can start putting the carpet and liner down. No I'm not putting carpet down for the fish, it goes under the liner to help stop stones sticking through. The large wall structure hides the pond filter and will eventually have a water fall coming down it. It's like a piece of art....I'm thinking of entering it for the Turner prize next year.
