25th November 2007........Fitted the nearside door rubber, the nearside window seal and pop-riveted the quarter-light triangle. (All jobs outstanding from the summer). I fitted the front bumper and the sta inless looking things that hold the edge of the carpet down when you open the doors. I also put the new screen rubbers on the front and rear screens but have not fitted them yet. The new rear number plate was screwed on and I managed to make some clips for the chrome boot trim but didn't want to drill the boot lid at the end of the day so stopped. Joanne helped me bleed the brakes and I had one leak which I cured, so a pretty productive weekend.
24th November 2007........A good day for a change. The gearbox went in reasonably easy for me b ut I did have to remove all the clutch first as I found the proper flywheel bolts that I couldn't find when I fitted it in the week. Even the two stupid bolts inside the bell-housing to gearbox went in first time without me dropping them. So I then fitted the prop shaft but couldn't find the chalk marks I put on when I took it apart, so it may need twisting round. At the end of the day I decided not to rush so won't be taking her to Edd's next weekend.
Week commencing 19th November 2007...Over the week I replaced all the brake pipes with nickel-copper pipe then lifted the block back in with the clutch already on. The idea being that I want to see if I can finish the car at the weekend ready for a weekend at Edd's on the 1st of December.
11th November 2007........Tried to make my new brake pipes up using copper/nickel pipe. After an hour of 'testing' I decided to read the instruction and from then on I never messed one up. Why don't I read the instructions first? Made and fitted all the front end brake pipes and then fitted the aluminum sump to the engine. Good weekend's work, slow but productive.
10th November 2007........Cleaned up the sump from SHW which is an aluminum one. It took ages but would save me having to find someone to braise my tin sump at the moment and the dip stick is the correct one. (DHR's was a homemade job). I used my new pressure washer which did the job okay then painted it black as usual.
8th November 2007..........Deon's sold the Beagle! No one told me.
