DHR's Stripe
It took longer than I'd imagine to paint a tiny stripe!

Stripe Painting Day

Well the day I'd been waiting for arrived and I was feeling terrible with a very bad case of man flu. I loaded up the car with tissue's and set off for Dave's new workshop and very nice it is too. We must have started 'masking up', (see I know all the terms), at about 10

  The start

To put the tape on took much longer than I would have imagined. I'd taken some close-up pictures of SHW's stripe and marked them with the correct measurements, as I'm sure that car is totally original, to use as a guide for Dave. Dave worked his way along the car and I was used to guide him as he went. A bit like the golden shot...up a bit, down a bit, etc.
  A closer look

Then he covered the car with masking paper.
  The cover up

Dave was more precise than I would've ever been and made sure no 'over spray', (told you I knew the lingo), could go in the door gaps.
  Half way there

With the finishing touches nearly done, the final double checks were made.
  Still going

All this took about two and a half hours...on just one side!
  Still not quite there

Dave then covered the other side of the car in dust sheets. (What kind of over 'spray does' he expect!)
  Done it

A closer view of the front wing. This was the most difficult part to mask up.
  A close-up

Then the spraying.
  The paint

This took all of three minutes.
  That's better

I have no pictures of the masking paper being removed as the batteries went dead in the camera and Edd phoned me.
  Well!

When I saw the first side I couldn't believe the difference a thin stripe makes to a car.
  What a difference

It was so different, totally changing the appearance. You could see the cars outline better, especially round the rear side window where the body curves.
  Wow

I don't know how I'd lived with her for so long without it, it looked so wrong. Dave had both sides done by about 4, then I drove her home with a permanent smile stuck on my face. I'd like to say a very big thank you to Dave who once again produced a wonderful job. I really couldn't have done such a good job myself. As I've said before, if you want something done on your car, seek out Dave.

That's much better
