I'd had this idea some time ago about the direction in which I wanted to go with SHW. I've now made up my mind and am not going to change it. Yeh right!
Okay starting with the engine.....This is definatly going to be Rover V8. No arguement there. I'm not quite sure what size yet but probably be the 3.5 or 3.9. I'd like a 1976'ish age, from an SD1 if I can find one, with a manual box. It will be carbs.
Suspension.....This will be Victor front end, as Edd has one of these I can use, then the GT suspension can be dropped into the estate ready for the 2 ltr engine. The Victor suspension already has the mounts in place for a Rover V8. The rear will be Simitar and at some stage I will put a Jag LSD in it.
Colour.....This will be Le Mans blue or maybe Monaco white again. If it's white it will not have a black bonnet.
Body.....This is where I want a change from the norm. DHR's front Trans Am spoiler will be nailed on and sunken round front indicator lights will replace the existing. This was done years ago on an HB, OVE. Also I'll add some wide arches and rear arch scoop as was done on the aforementioned car. Edd also has a grille I can use which I think was VX4/90, so round front headlights will be added to match the sunken round indicators. Three round air vents will be cut in each front wing to help improve air flow from the engine bay, again as was done on OVE years ago. Quarter bumpers will finish the front end.
Interior.....Will be standard GT but I have tinkered with the idea of a roll cage.
Anyway I could see it in my mind and I had 4/5 different pictures of old HB's with all the bits on and needed a way to see if I liked what I was thinking. So I came up with the plan of getting it drawn. As it happens a young lad at our school is car crazy and draws fantastic pictures of cars. Damian said he would draw the one car, from the four pictures, in his spare time. Below is the result and I'm determind to build the car as it is below. Damian did a fantastic job and I'm so pleased with the outcome. He's let me have the original so when he's famous it'll be worth a fortune, then I'll sell it and it will pay for the car restoration. I like to think ahead. Thank you so much Damian. |
